Member of The Week- Jen Strang

  • Whats your name? What do you do for a living?

-Jen Strang.  I start a new job on Monday as a Compliance Auditor at Yale University School of Medicine.

  • Are you married? Do you have children or grandchildren?

-No to all of the above…but I do have a sweet 15 month old nephew.

  • How Long have you been doing CrossFit for?

-I celebrated 5 years in October.  CFT has been the longest gym membership I’ve ever held.

  • What would you say is your favorite movement in a workout? how about your least favorite?

-I love back squats and actually most of the movements.  My least favorite have remained dumb bell man makers.

  • What has been you biggest accomplishment since starting CrossFit and how has it effected your life?

-Crossfit has taught me that I am capable of so much more than I ever thought (in the gym and outside of it).  I never thought that I could do the amount of reps and weight that I now do on a regular basis.  I’ve also run 5 1/2 marathons in the last few years and set a lot of PRs.

  • What advice would you give to someone new at TriTown? (I.e. check your ego, ask for help, trust the process, etc.)

-Don’t get frustrated.  Stick with it.  Don’t compare yourself to everyone else.  You are right where you need to be.  Show up and give it your best.

  • What’s one hidden talent you have or interesting fact about you?

-I make super yummy Christmas cookies!

  • If you were stranded on an island for the rest of your life with one person of your choosing, who would it be?

-My best friend Stephanie..she’s been my right hand for over 25 years.

  • What’s the one thing you MUST HAVE every day (good or bad is fine)?

-Coffee..first thing every single morning.

  • If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

-Mmm…I’m just finishing Season 2 of Stranger Things so I think I’ll go with Telekinesis.
