#whyiCrossFit – Cindy Cervini

If you are reading this, it means that you are a member of the CrossFit Tritown community, and you deserve congratulations! Congratulations for being able to prioritize fitness as part of your busy life, and get to the box several times a week! It’s a phenomenal feeling to finally achieve that PR, or to finish a WOD that made you want to just drive by the gym without stopping (but you’re not a cherry picker, even on Thursdays, right?!).

We’ve all heard that CF is functional fitness.

“CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life.”

But what does that really mean? It means that CF is a way to develop broad, general and inclusive fitness to all populations, regardless of age or ability. With this knowledge, think about how the functional fitness you develop at CF translates in to your daily life. Are you sitting at a desk all day at work, using your day off to watch a Netflix marathon, OR using your CF gains to doing something more active like going on a run, snowboarding, rock-climbing, or simply bringing your kids to the trampoline park?
